Founded in 1869 by early Anglican missionaries, and completed in 1946 after decades of fundraising and community effort, the Cathedral Church of Christ was the first Anglican cathedral in Nigeria and one of the earliest expressions of British ecclesiastical architecture in West Africa. Designed in the Gothic Revival style, its soaring arches, vaulted ceilings, and stained-glass windows told a story not just of Christianity, but of power, empire, and spiritual transition.
